As mentioned yesterday we have changed one of the established TriFreak events.  That event is the Escape From The Gorge.  The Escape From The Gorge is now part of The AnchorMan Triathlon Series, referred to as AnchorMan Portland.  It will act as a qualifier (100 slots) to The AnchorMan Triathlon Championship in San Diego on October 4th, 2009.  It will now include only one distance;   .5 mile Swim/12 mile Bike/3 mile Run.

You know, when I started producing races 5 years ago I was looking for more balance in my life.  I was working at my "straight" job 60 hours a week and I wanted to try something else.  I had been competing in triathlon for over 20 years and always wanted to try my hand at producing, so the time seemed right.  Well, long story short, producing ended up replacing participating and I got really out of shape.  My goal for the 2009 season is to achieve that balance that I wanted 5 years ago.  I want to continue to grow professionally but reclaim the level of fitness I previously had.  I loved being a TriFreak.  I loved "obsessing" about workouts and improving as an athlete.  I want that again.  I've been called out (in a friendly way) by a few of my friends over the years about what bad shape I was in and how, I could never beat any of them in a race again.  Well, as a wise rapper once said..."It's on like donkey kong".  I'll see you in May.
